Physics question MOMENTUM. Killing me!?

^^^^The guy above is right.Basically what you did wrong was that you added the momentum of each particle algebraically.Since the momentums of these particles are in different directions,you should add them geometrically,i.e.addition of vector.BTW,I am too lazy to do calculations,LOL.Add the components and then you will get components of initial momentum.Then it is pretty straightforward.
