Can you miss a monthly council tax payment and double up the next month?

I am due to start paying council tax (have recently graduated after being in full time education for past 4 years) and have lined up a teaching job for September. However I am worried about being able to meet the council tax payments over the next few months while I'm waiting to start. Does anybody know if you can skip monthly payment and then double up when you have the available funds (when I get my first monthly wage in September) Help would be appreciated!
