I just received a wage garnishment order. is there anything I can do to reverse the garnishment?

I've just started building up my credit for three years and I know this is definitely going to be a disaster for my credit history. Is it possible for me to still call up the creditor and make other arrangements? Is it possible to get this garnishment reversed so it doesnt affect my credit history? If there's nothing i can do.... Should i just file for bankruptcy? I currently owe about $6000 in credit card....I heard that wage garnishment will be on my credit history for 7 years....Please help....I currently support both my elderly parents and my girlfriend is a student in college.....
