How much crime is there in Taiwan?

In comparison to crimes committed by the other China, Taiwan is quite safe. Last time I checked outside (about 30 minutes ago), I didn't see anyone destroying temples,stabbing kindergartners, intentionally poisioning babies, backing over an injured pedestrian, forcing indigent people off their land at gunpoint, kidnapping lowly fishermen from other countries, or constantly impersonating well-known celebrities here. Indeed, Taiwan is very safe, even though Gen. "Blood and Guts" Patton had little to do with securing its future.
